Ares Raises $4.2B For Inaugural Structured Solutions Fund

Ares Management Corporation has raised approximately $4.2 billion for its inaugural structured solutions fund. The fund significantly exceeded its original $1 billion target. The Ares Global Structured Solutions Fund will support managers seeking flexible capital.

These include increasing general partner fund commitments and seeding new strategies. The fund will also support succession planning initiatives. The fundraising adds to Ares’ established secondaries platform and expands its ability to serve private market managers.

Ares Targets Growing Demand For GP Solutions

The new fund will be managed by Ares’ Private Equity Secondaries team. The strategy focuses on providing tailored capital solutions to general partners. Managers can use the capital to increase commitments to their own funds.

It can also support new strategies through structured limited partner commitments. Succession planning represents another area targeted by the fund. These solutions can provide managers with additional flexibility around ownership transitions.

They may also help firms address changing capital requirements without relying solely on traditional fundraising. Blair Jacobson, Co-President of Ares, said demand for tailored GP solutions is increasing. He said the fund expands Ares’ existing GP capabilities.

The Ares Private Equity Secondaries strategy forms part of the Ares Secondaries Group. The group manages liquidity solutions across several private market asset classes. These include private equity, real estate, infrastructure and credit. The group managed $44 billion of assets as of June 30, 2026.

Ares said the dedicated capital pool strengthens its ability to work with a broader group of managers. The strategy also builds on the firm’s previous structured solutions activity. Nate Walton, Head of Private Equity Secondaries at Ares, said the team underestimated demand from limited partners.

The new vehicle gives Ares additional capacity to address customised financing needs. It also allows the team to support managers through different stages of their development. Ares has more than 30 years of experience across the secondaries market.

Ares Scales Alternative Investment Platform

The new fund adds another strategy to Ares’ broader alternative investment platform. The firm provides primary and secondary investment solutions across several asset classes. Its investment activities span credit, real estate, private equity and infrastructure.

Ares had more than $671 billion in assets under management as of June 30, 2026. The company operates across North America, South America, Europe, Asia Pacific and the Middle East. Its structured solutions strategy is focused on managers seeking flexible capital.

The successful close also reflects the growing role of tailored financing within private markets. Ares says the strategy will support managers pursuing long-term growth initiatives. Ares funds have deployed nearly $9 billion across structured solutions transactions since 2013.

The fund’s scale gives the team substantial resources for future transactions. It also reinforces Ares’ broader approach to providing liquidity and strategic capital. For managers, structured financing can offer an alternative to conventional equity fundraising.

The fund’s close highlights the importance of specialised capital in an evolving private markets environment. General partners can face different financing needs during a fund’s lifecycle. Structured solutions can address those needs through arrangements tailored to specific circumstances.

The strategy extends a platform built around long-term relationships with private market managers. Its secondaries business has developed capabilities across multiple transaction types. Those capabilities can support transactions involving existing funds, new commitments and ownership considerations.
